Favorite Holiday Traditions

Here's a couple things that I remember from when we were kids that I still love and adore: The aluminum Christmas tree combined with the high tech color wheel! Do you all remember that? I sooooo wish I had one still.

And who could forget It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown? That was always a Halloween tradition. "I got a rock." LOL!

Fashions and Fads

If you can remember the government cheese, you can certainly remember wearing these cool shoes, and the whiter they were the nicer they look to where we would even use shoe polish to keep them” Looking Good”

People We've Known and Loved

Two of the best and sweetest people I have ever known. I love you Grandma and Grandpa!

Home Sweet Home

Hey, anyone recognize this old place? Add a big tree in the front yard, remove that bay window and put a big, flowery bush in front of the porch and you have...1822 W. Boone! Looks good, doesn't it?

Here are a couple that Mom sent from older days...

Obviously, these were taken right before we moved from old 1822 (notice the For Sale sign in front), the end of many fun and happy years here.

Anybody remember "camping" with blankets under those clotheslines? And how about dragging home rocks for Mom's rock garden?

Riverfront Park

Remember roller skating, riding the carousel, swimming in the fountains? It was a long walk to get there, but this old park always provided the most fun. There was the IMAX, the Science Center, the ice skating rink, Indian Pow-Wows, all kinds of concerts and shows. And then, there was just plain old walking around, rolling down the hills, having a picnic or bbq and feeding the ducks. This beautiful park holds a lot of memories for me.

Favorite Pets

Unfortunately, this isn't a real picture of Roo, but a look-alike I found online. If anyone does have an actual picture of her, I would love for you to post it.
Ah Ha! Here's a picture of the "Real McCoy"! Thanks Mom for sending me this one. Isn't she pretty? I miss this little girl. Remember her all dressed up in my little overalls? Potty Nite Nite Roo Dog.

The Circus is in Town!

Remember this old place? The old Coliseum back in the Pre-Arena days! I remember going to the Ringling Brothers Circus many times here and also seeing the Harlem Globetrotters one time! Anyone else have any good memories of the old Coliseum?

Favorite Foods and Restaurants

MMM!!! One of my absolute favorites! I miss this yummy food so much!

Misc Memories

Who could ever forget Grandma Martin's Guvment Cheese tirade? I know she has God laughing up there now. I miss you Grandma!

Who Could Forget this Place???

Good old Dick's Drive In. Double Whammy Gut Busters. Fries and tartar. Extra tartar. Those yummy sundaes. A bag of burgers.

What could be better than this???

Well, there's always the Taco Time crisp meat burrito...but that's another post.

Oh Yeah, How about This?

Well, it's not really there anymore. None of them are. The North Cedar, the East Trent, The Y, The East Sprague, The Starlite, The West-End. They're all gone. But in my memory they will live on forever. Long live the drive in theatre!!! Speakers hooked on your windows, people partying and making so much noise it caused fights, extremely long lines for the bathrooms, popcorn and bon bons and even the playground up front. Come on, who else misses these things???
